I rented a car this past week, a Fiat 600e, and it had both TomTom navigation and Android Auto included in the large secondary screen.

dead. But I looked at their website and they are selling several
hardware models, some of them for profesional drivers.
One new feature (for me) is entering in the config the size and weight
of the vehicle.
Yes, it had the
facility to enter assorted lorry (truck) parameters, presumably so it
could select routes that take those into account.

They can’t actually figure out what this is: they get periodic uploads
of their own orbital elements from a central control on Earth.

Yes; I meant, they don't even give map data, they certainly don't have traffic info, roadworks, etcetera. The map data has to be in the
receiving device, and traffic data and the like, if it displays that,
must come from some other source, such as cellular or RDS if any
stations still send it via that.

Yes. It's a mystery to me how My GO app gets its data. I am not sure
that it is via the Internet at all. It has asked me 'is there still a
speed camera there' and it absolutely phones home so users in traffic
jams notify it of the fact.
Googling implies it uses an API to connect over the internet. It cannot
be a lot of data as it never shows up in usage, much

That could be done automatically by them detecting (slow) speed.

be via the internet. When you say it doesn't show up in usage, *much*,
do you mean that it does show up a little? (Or, maybe, whatever monitors
your usage doesn't identify when it's a small amount.)
