expect maybe *35* on average. Only

A _lot_ of those statistics are skewed by both infant and child
mortality - well, not skewed because that's what "average" actually
_means_. But in a lot of cases adults _did_ live longer than the
_average_ figures at first suggest - though I agree, a lot less than we
do now. That's one of the reasons we're in trouble with the cost of
pensions: when the scheme (which is basically a legalized Ponzi scheme)
was set up, people weren't expected to live more than say four or five
years into retirement, and very few governments dared to raise the age
    as longevity increased.

Back in about 2000, the Australian Government DID start raising the
Pension age, First raising the Woman's Pension Age from 60yo, increasing
a year every two years, so by 2010 the Women's pension Age would be
65yo, same as the Men's pension age.

Since then the Pension Age for both Men and Women is increasing a year
every four or five years until it reaches 70yo.

    - and I hold still. It makes a short noise when the dentist the other
side of the door presses her button, but I think significantly more of a
second than a millisecond. and I still think the thing in black plastic

attached to a clamp, that I bite down on - is a piece of film.)

I suppose it is a second of preparation, not the actual "shot".

As for those using electronic sensors: I am sure there _are_ (and they
use) ones specifically designed to detect X-rays, but I would imagine
even ones designed for light would detect X-rays, as X-rays are more
energetic than light; I suppose using sensors designed _only_ for X-rays
avoids the necessity to wrap them in something to keep the light out.--

Yes, it's a linefeed-eating bug in Thunderbird; there was one similar in
the early 140s version, but it was fixed, but came back (at a later
revision) - not quite the same, this time round it particularly likes to swallow the linefeed before the "-- " line, thus rendering it
ineffective. It doesn't _always_ do it, which is worse. The most
irritating aspect of the bug is that it happens between the compose
editor and the actual sending: the post looks fine when I click "send".
(It isn't _just_ the one before the .sig that gets eaten: if I post with
some new text followed by one or more blank lines of quoted text, I get
    a line ending like this>>>.)
It's allegedly been fixed in Betterbird, and possibly some of the
non-esr versions of Thunderbird; hoping it'll be fixed in the ESR
version soon. (In the meantime, I just have to remember to insert lots
    of extra blank lines.)

Hmm. I would have no objection to it appearing in a different colour
(the grey used when displaying them in incoming would be fine by me),
but not sure about making it uneditable; there are times when the random

I like at least one trailing space... but if others do not I will
accommodate that. I am working on my own Usenet client that, if all goes
well, MAYBE someday I will put up in the app store.

I wish thunderbird would 'grey it out'

Your sig is greyed out here (Thunderbird 146.0 (64-bit) on macOS).
And if I reply it's automatically removed.

It happens when there is no white line separating the signature block.
    Like this.

Not here. I see it greyed out and it's automatically removed when I
reply. Currently, Thunderbird 158.0 (64-bit) (I updated after I wrote
the previous reply). Maybe it has been fixed?
No, it happens sometimes, but one of the triggers is no separation blank
    line.

Me, on the other hand, I often delete all those empty lines so my sig
delimiter is often the very next line following the text.

Me too - I don't like inserting trailing blank lines. (Which is why the newline-eating bug often corrupts my signature separator.)

And I always leave one line.
