The Sun Makers is another good one. It's distinguished in part by K-9
finally getting to show his stuff. They clearly had him in mind when
they wrote the script, and they have a lot of fun with it. The Doctor
wants to go for a W-A-L-K, and K-9 wants to come. "Entreat, Master!" He
also wants praise. "Satisfactory, Mistress?" He asks several times, but
Leela has no experience with dogs organic or robotic, and doesn't know
he wants to be told he's a good dog. The Doctor knows to add a "Well
    done, K-9."

The plot is more serious. Humanity is essentially enslaved by the
corporation which employs all of us, and we owe our souls to the company store. Our heroes meet a young man considering suicide because he can't
meet the bill and has been told to work 24 hours a day. These bad guys,
the Company, could be taken to represent corporate overlords or state overlords. When others enslave us, their philosophy doesn't really
matter to the slave experience. The core is that they see us as
resources to be used, not as fellow people.

The workers are being drugged via a gas in the air supply. The Doctor
shuts that down and makes a public announcement that rebellion is now possible. He also sends the Company into paper bankruptcy with a trick, leading the Collector to liquidate the Company and return to its natural
form, which the humans confine. The Doctor then suggests the humans
return to Earth, which may have recovered by now.

The Collector was the subject of a lot of silly titles. A few which
caught my attention were "Your Immensity," "Monstrosity," and "Your Corpulence." What? I guess the idea is that size=power, but who wants to
be called "Your Corpulence"? The Collector seems indifferent to it all
    anyway, though.

This one is great. The whole era's great, so I keep saying that, but
    that's because it's true.

Such is what you get when a Labour/Socialist Party is in government.
