the Movellan tasked with installing the device inside the cylinder
didn't activate the detonator so it didn't harm Romana when the timer

which Davros resists and then releasing it causing Davros's hand to slam >down violently on the detonation button.
Davros is encased by the Doctor in a cryogenic chamber on board the
Movellan ship and a spaceship from Earth is dispatched to collect him to
put him on trial for crimes against all life in the cosmos.
The Doctor and Romana manage to jump out of the Movellan ship now in the >humans possession and run to safety just before it starts to take off so
it can leave Skaro before the Dalek ship sent for by Davros arrives in
six days.
The Doctor and Romana dislodge the rubble covering the TARDIS and Romana >asks the Doctor what his solution to the Dalek-Movellan impasse would
have been. The Doctor's solution was to allow one side to make
irrational decisions by switching off their battle computer first and
win by making mistakes which the other side's computer would not be able
to predict or counter.
Romana asks the Doctor if making mistakes is the reason why he always
wins. The Doctor says yes, and then realises what he just admitted to.
He then dematerialises the TARDIS and then hits the wrong button to make
it materialise again making Romana think it was another mistake after
which he dematerialises again properly.
This felt more like an episode from Series 12, or 13, or the Hartnell
era compared to the Key to Time series with Terry Nation writing and
Douglas Adams becoming Script Editor for Season 17. Pity John
Nathan-Turner had to ruin the show when he took over.
Romana II played by Lalla Ward has been made to behave in a more
helpless and vulnerable manner than Romana I and this also explains why
this story felt more like a Sarah Jane story with a greater feeling of >terror and suspense than anything in the Key to Time series.
Destiny of the Daleks was a great story but not as good as Genesis of
the Daleks.
The quality of the sets for Destiny was superior but the original Davros >from Genesis still looked and acted better.
There were also some
contradictions between the two stories since Davros's laboratory was
much further away from the Kaled city when the Kaled city was destroyed
by the Thal's missile.
The idea of battle computers control war is once again explored as it
was in The Armageddon Factor, but this time both sides have a battle >computer running all of their offensive and defensive strategies. The
Doctor remarks that the stalemate resulting from this balance is the
perfect way for creating long lasting peace. It is also the principle of >deterrents. If one side wants to break the stalemate and win the war
then sacrifices need to be made despite sacrifices being irrational,
since in order to win you first need to lose something or almost
everything, so is it really worth it? It depends what you are fighting
for. Freedom or death would be the justification if you have nothing
left to lose after being enslaved.

Princess Astra body and gets the Doctor to agree to it when she puts on
a copy of his costume to disguise herself. After she revels she is back
in Princess Astra's body she agrees to modify the costume to a pink
version of it so that it doesn't clash with the Doctor's outfit.
The Doctor did sulk
The TARDIS lands on a mysterious planet and the Doctor and Romana go out >>> and explore. The planet turns out to be Skaro and the Daleks have
returned to try to find Davros so that they can get him to help them win >>> a war against the Movellans which has been in stalemate for hundreds of
years with neither side's battle computer deciding to attack until the
conditions for optimal success are met.
WEll 2 robotic races at war.
Both of them using battle computers. Has anyone ever tried putting 2
chess computers against each other?
The Movellans also land on Skaro at the same time, looking for what the
Daleks are looking for and trying to stop them them.
Humanoid aliens captured by the Daleks are being used as slaves to dig
down to the 5th level to find Davros. The seismic activity from the
Daleks excavations cause the ruins of the Kaled city to collapse and
trap the Doctor underneath the rubble.
Or was it the bunker?
Terry Nation seems to have forgotten all about the bunker and the fact
that Davros was shot there when it was located miles way from the city
which he cause to be destroyed.
Romana goes back to the TARDIS to reconnect K9's brain with the Arrow A
pointing to the front in order to blast away the reinforced concrete
pillar pinning the Doctor down.
When she reaches the landing place a rockfall has made the TARDIS
unreachable and Romana turns back to return to the city and finds the
Doctor gone from inside where she left him after telling him not to go
away. She is followed there by an escaped slave who she and the Doctor
saw being buried earlier because his follow slaves thought he was dead.
The Doctor has been freed by the Movellans using their bodily strength
alone and taken back to their ship which the Doctor and Romana saw bury
9/10 of itself underground for protection earlier.
I recall a funny line where te Doctor taunts the Daleks
about chasing him up a shaft.

In the rubble of the Kaled city Romana falls down a shaft and is
captured by the Daleks and put to work with the salves. She collapses
and feigns death so she can escape the same way Tyssan the escaped slave >>> following her did.
The Doctor and the Movellans led by Veldan played by David Yip go to
explore the city ruins and meet up with Tyssan, and then Romana after
the Doctor spots a head stone with her name written on it.
The Doctor having been to the Kaled city before (in Genesis of the
Daleks) knows of a shaft the leads directly to level 5 so they all
arrive there before the Daleks. One of the Movellans is presumed dead
after he is buried under some collapsing rubble.
The Doctor finds Davros
Pelase recall the End of PArt 2 and that start of PArt 3 , Davros awakens. >>
The used a different take for each part and didn't reprise the original >cliffhanger of Davros awakening.
and wheels him away to take him to the Movellan
ship while the others escape the city all perused by the Daleks as the
Doctor is trapped. The Daleks start killing the slaves one by one to get >>> the Doctor to return Davros to them and finally after the Daleks prepare >>> to kill a third slave he relents but forces them to agree to his
conditions to let the remaining slaves go free and allow him to escape
after he plants a bomb which he has modified on Davros's chair.
The Daleks don't believe that the Doctor will sacrifices himself to kill >>> Davros but Davros tells them that he will and orders them agree to the
Doctor's demands.
Love the DO as he says debate.
The slaves are freed and the Doctor escapes and
detonates his bomb by remote control with his sonic screwdriver when he
is outside of the city, but a Dalek has taken the bomb off Davros's
chair and the Dalek is blown up instead.
Romana is taken to the Movellan ship while Tyssan escapes and joins up
with the Doctor and the freed slaves. They discover the Movellans are
robots and can be deactivated by removing the power pack from their belt >>> which also acts as a programming device which the Doctor and Tyssan
figure out how to reprogramme.
The Movellans want to lure the Doctor into their grasp so that they can
use him to reprogramme their battle computer to give them an advantage
over that of the Daleks which the Daleks want Davros to reprogramme
likewise.
Romana is placed inside an airtight cylinder along with a doomsday
device which causes the air around it to explosively incinerate when the >>> countdown timer reaches its end. The Doctor has to rescue her before the >>> device activates but can't get inside or lift the cylinder and is caught >>> by the Movellans and taken to their ship. Fortunately for Romana, Agella >>> the Movellan tasked with installing the device inside the cylinder
didn't activate the detonator so it didn't harm Romana when the timer
timed out.
End of PArt 3 beginning of Part 4
Inside the Movellan ship the Doctor and Romana play rock, paper,
scissors to illustrate to the Movellans the inability of their robotic
logic to allow them to win the game. With the Movellans playing it
always ends in stalemate since each is able to anticipate the other's
move at the same time or follows exactly the same programming. With the
Doctor and Romana playing stalemate only happens very rarely.
While the game is going on the freed slaves led by Tyssan prepare to
storm the Movellan ship. The Doctor gives the signal by starting an
argument with Romana for no reason at all which distracts the Movellan's >>> while the freed slaves attack and deactivate all the Movellans they can
grab the power packs from. These Movellans are then rendered harmless by >>> the Doctor while Romana goes after the last remaining Movellan, Veldan,
who plans to manually detonate the Movellan weapon to destroy Skaro and
everything on it by explosively incinerating its atmosphere as it would
have done to Romana had it been set.
REpropgrmming time.
Meanwhile Davros orders the Daleks to attach bombs to themselves and
make their way to the Movellan ship to blow it up by committing suicide
when they all come close enough to it. A blaster fight ensues between
them and the humanoids using Movellan weapons to slow them down.
The Doctor sets off to find Davros and discovers him in the Dalek
control room all alone except for one Dalek who the Doctor stops by
tossing his hat over its eyestalk causing it to lose control and fire
randomly while he grams a bomb and magnetically attaches it to the
Dalek's casing. The bomb detonates after the Doctor pushes the Dalek
into a tunnel.
Romana reaches the last Movellan just in time and after severing its
arm, to stop it from hitting the detonation button, pulls off its power
pack/programming device.
Please recall how the Daleks deviated by exterminating tehir old slaves.
The freed slaves started attacking them with Movellan weapons.
The Doctor gets Davros to blow up the Daleks carrying the explosives
before they reach the Movellan ship by pushing up Davros's good hand
which Davros resists and then releasing it causing Davros's hand to slam >>> down violently on the detonation button.
Davros is encased by the Doctor in a cryogenic chamber on board the
Movellan ship and a spaceship from Earth is dispatched to collect him to >>> put him on trial for crimes against all life in the cosmos.
ReEmember Nelly the Pink Elephant line.
Elephants are not pink. The input data was incorrect.
So how the Doctor and company defeats both the Daleks and the Movellans:
They are slave to logic.
They are slaves to their battle computers. All one of them has to do is
turn it off.
The Doctor and Romana manage to jump out of the Movellan ship now in the >>> humans possession and run to safety just before it starts to take off so >>> it can leave Skaro before the Dalek ship sent for by Davros arrives in
six days.
The Doctor and Romana dislodge the rubble covering the TARDIS and Romana >>> asks the Doctor what his solution to the Dalek-Movellan impasse would
have been. The Doctor's solution was to allow one side to make
irrational decisions by switching off their battle computer first and
win by making mistakes which the other side's computer would not be able >>> to predict or counter.
Romana asks the Doctor if making mistakes is the reason why he always
wins. The Doctor says yes, and then realises what he just admitted to.
He then dematerialises the TARDIS and then hits the wrong button to make >>> it materialise again making Romana think it was another mistake after
which he dematerialises again properly.
This felt more like an episode from Series 12, or 13, or the Hartnell
era compared to the Key to Time series with Terry Nation writing and
Douglas Adams becoming Script Editor for Season 17. Pity John
Nathan-Turner had to ruin the show when he took over.
Romana II played by Lalla Ward has been made to behave in a more
helpless and vulnerable manner than Romana I and this also explains why
this story felt more like a Sarah Jane story with a greater feeling of
terror and suspense than anything in the Key to Time series.
Destiny of the Daleks was a great story but not as good as Genesis of
the Daleks.
Genesis was menat for JPertwee.
It suited Tom Baker better.
Destiny is purley TOm Baker.
It felt more Hartnell.
The quality of the sets for Destiny was superior but the original Davros >>>from Genesis still looked and acted better.
Wisher played Davros in Genesis and was good.
Gooderson who plays Davros in this one is rather average.
There were also some
contradictions between the two stories since Davros's laboratory was
much further away from the Kaled city when the Kaled city was destroyed
by the Thal's missile.
Davros was shot in the bunker.
So what was it doing under the city which he cause to be destroyed?
