I'm on Team K-9 forever.

They went with a cartoon? I've heard of the Australian live
action show, which was not popular, though I've never seen it.
The redesign of K-9 made it unappealing.
There was also K-9 and Company. Ever see the intro?

This was the pilot. Can you believe they never made the show?
We'll never learn why Sarah Jane was drinking so much wine. Maybe
she hated the Flashdance outfits and took to drink.

The people were live action, K9 was, for the most part, CGI.
So I say, [in my usual disparaging way] cartoon!

Of course, it was a big thing at the time. Sarah Jane Smith was
back!

It was the BBC. Of course I could believe it! :-)
The story is, BBC management changed and the person at the BBC
who commissioned the K9 pilot episode wasn't around any longer,
and the person who took over from him didn't like the idea of
the show... so it never went any further.
Or something...

"I'm the most popular companion in Doctor Who history, and the
show is still named after a prop."
-Elisabeth Sladen, probably

That was strange alright. JNT must have thought K9 would be
more of an attraction for the kiddies.
Fortunately, justice was done when Sarah Jane Smith got her
own series many years later.
