For instance, it's asking me what sex I am and while it previously just
had options for male or female, now I have an option to fill in anything
I like in a blank. It also asked me what my sex at birth was, as
observed at the time of birth. (Actually, the new versions of the
questions may go back to a previous census; I just don't remember.)

For the benefit of our American friends, Canada has 2 censuses - the
main one every 10 years in the year ending in 1 (e.g. one year later
than the US) and a second MUCH shorter census in years ending in 6.
I filled in the 2026 census online and it was MUCH shorter than the
2021 census - as in roughly 2 screen pages in 2026 vs about 10-20
pages (print) back in 2021. Took me at most 10 minutes to fill in the
2026 version - 2 people in our household, yes we're related and not
married to each other (e.g. my adult daughter and I) and no questions
about income which I imagine they could have gotten from the taxman
had they needed it.
