"Peaceful protestors" show up at an ICE facility with a small arsenal
and body armour, commit various acts of vandalism, light off fireworks
and then have an ex-Marine take shots at the cops with an AR-15. It
doesn't go quite as well as they'd planned....

It was mostly peaceful. I mean, they were only gunning down cops for a few seconds. The rest of the time, all they were doing was kicking out the taillights of people's cars and spray-painting profanity on them. According to FPP, if they weren't shooting the *entire* time, it was technically mostly peaceful. That's the sort of thing FPP considered a win on Usenet. <rolls
    eyes>

FYI: Sentencing occurred in June and July 2026

Benjamin Song, identified as the organizer and the person who shot the
    officer, received 100 years prison.

    Maricela Rueda received 70 years.

Autumn Hill, Zachary Evetts, Savanna Batten, Meagan Morris, Elizabeth Soto,
and Ines Soto, received 50-year terms.

Daniel Rolando Sanchez-Estrada received 30 years.

Defendants who pleaded guilty received shorter sentences ranging from 22
    months to 15 years.

The wounded officer was shot through the neck and recovered after several surgeries and a long hospital stay. No ICE staff were injured.

Note: A second source says the officer was treated and released that night.
Not sure which one is accurate.

The sentences seem unreasonably severe, though I don't know
anything else about the case. I wouldn't doubt that if rightists
attacked ICE in the same manner they would be punished the same
way while the Left is usually given a free pass for violence,
    especially racial violence.

ICE called police who protected ICE, ICE was unarmed. The would
be killers may of been intent on taking over the facility. If
this was the sixties or seventies they would been given a year
sentence - suspended, and paraded as heroes: this lack of
punishment was why there were thousands of bombings a year with
    frequent political murders.

In my opinion the defendants were victim - victimizers who were
suckered into it by the media, unanimous as always, who played them
for chumps and now laugh at their victims for being suckers. It
shows how dangerous it is not to have competition in media, it
makes people live in an echo chamber: every outlet in every
format always has the same angle on every story, great or small,
and these tormented souls heard nothing to contradict the
systematic agitation to attack ICE. This terrorism result
illustrates the deadly nature of lack of free speech.

Are you kidding me? A terrorist attack against a government facility where
they attempted and almost succeeded in murdering cops?

    They should be executed.

"Rightists" wouldn't do that. But if they did, yes, they'd be punished equally harshly.

Yes, which is why it's time they learn that if they fuck around, they'll find out.

Are you kidding me? A terrorist attack against a government facility where they attempted and almost succeeded in murdering cops?

Exactly. Hasn't society been claiming that the laws
restricting immigration are murder? Well, this wasn't
    even a murder.

    They should be executed.

What if they are hiding the real culprits, taking the
rap? And there could have been higher ups involved that have
    been ignored.

I wouldn't doubt that if rightists attacked ICE in the same manner they would
    be punished the same way

    "Rightists" wouldn't do that.

According to the esteemed highly respected experts in Political
Science, spoken out loud skepticism of the claim that Immigration
as the Panacea to all Social Problems is opposition to the very
concept of immigration, motivated by Personal Hatred of Immigrants,
because the right-wing violently abhor the weak, helpless and needy.
Accept that and it's easier to accept the claim that Rightists
may break into federal facilities to hurt immigrants. As stupid
as that sounds the daily news makes these threatening claims
about rightists all the time, confident that it will not be
    rebutted by reputable people.

But if they did, yes, they'd be punished equally
    harshly.

while the Left is usually given a free pass for violence,
    especially racial violence.

Yes, which is why it's time they learn that if they fuck around, they'll find out.
Speaking in general, reliable policing and prosecution work is
far better than to target a handful and "make an example of them",
letting the others go. I don't know about this case but just
what this hub bub says, the exact crimes they were reported to
be charged with have severe sentences. Song is the shooter.
The severity of the sentences of most are suspicious. Other
left wing terrorist crimes against the Feds, including
murders, are given comparative slaps on the wrist. This
singling out a few while ignoring thousands of others who
attacks the Feds while screaming 'death to whites'.
