That won't work very well. You should filter on any of the following
headers for better results -

In your case filtering on Message-ID, would be better. For example,
match any of the following - Message-ID - contains - giganews
Drawback - pretty heavy handed filter that will almost certainly get
rid of some wanted posters. But . . . if it works for you -
I'll think about it. Turns out the piece of shit software I'm using, Thunderbird, doesn't apply the filters I created.
Dear rec.arts.tv,rec.arts.tv. On the following headers,

I've given up on reporting bugs to Mozilla, and I don't know a better
Usenet client for Windows.

Forte Agent 8.0 is available at
https://www.forteinc.com/main/homepage.php
and you may be able to find a download of Free Agent,
which would work fine for text.

Thank you David. This goes in my list of considerations. I don't know
my budget at the moment, but if there's a free client, or a trial period
this will be a delight to test out.
Best wishes, and happy Usenet posts!

Bottom line (first) - you're filtering on the wrong header. Filter
on Xref - not X-Complaints-To.
The header you are trying to filter on is not available until you
click on an article to read it. By then it's too late to filter on
the X-Complaints-To: header. This method of operation is not unique
to Thunderbird. The X-Complaints-To: header is considered an
"expensive" header because it is not pulled until you pull the entire
article to read it. What you want to do MAY work if you use
Thunderbird as an offline newsreader, but hardly anybody does that
any more.
The headers previously posted are all pulled when you download new
articles, so the filters can do their thing before you try to read an article. You should filter using those "cheap" headers previously
posted. The following are considered "cheap" headers (aka required
headers) - "From", "Date", "Newsgroups", "Subject", "Message-ID", and
"Path". "Xref" is very often included in the "cheap" headers. But
that depends on how your usenet provider is configured. I cannot
check the Easynews configuration (no account).
Further sugestion - start out marking your unwanted articles as read,
until everything works as desired. Then change to deleting them.
The best free newsreader, IMO, is Fortitude Dialog, version 1541.
But it is ancient, unsupported and hard to find a download. Not sure
how well it works on Windows 11. But still THE best! Pan is pretty
good, but it sucks 4$$ on binaries. slrn is good, but you'll hate
it, as it's not a GUI newsreader. Thunderbird is an email client
that happens to double as a (poor) newsreader.
