Two cases that amply demonstrate the need for mental hospitals so that
people can get better instead of just incarcerated:

The levels of sheer *rage* in these individuals is staggering. What is
    making everyone so crazy??

When life is full of a never ending set of challenges some will fall
apart mentally. It doesn't help that social media helps people to feed
what ever challenges they appear to face.

It doesn't help that the US President is a lunatic xenophobic moron
with no clue what he's doing and forgets he's done it two seconds later.

I have to admit you make a valid point. I *was* assuming that mental
hospitals would actually alleviate these problems yet there is some
reason to doubt that. There are times it's hard to tell if they've
actually fixed someone or just medicated them into (temporary) docility.

These are just two of many, many videos I've seen that seem to have at
least some element of mental illness. I don't doubt that these channels cherry-pick the most extreme cases and thereby cause viewers to think
the mental health problems are more rampant than they really are but I'm genuinely shocked at just how messed up some people are.

Watch those two videos and tell me how Trump is responsible for either one.
