Besides Avengers: Doomsday, Kelsey Grammer Is Also Returning
To NBC for New Show
------------------------------------------------------------
Avengers: Doomsday star Kelsey Grammer is heading back to NBC
for a brand-new series beyond the Marvel blockbuster. The
veteran actor will lead an exciting new drama that draws from
an unlikely and inspiring real-life career change.

Kelsey Grammer to star in new EMT drama, Pops
Kelsey Grammer stars in Pops, a new EMT drama in development
at NBC, Deadline reports. The project pairs Grammer with
longtime Chicago Med writer-producer Danny Weiss, who penned
the script. Grammer also executive produces through his
Grammnet NH Productions banner.

In the series, Grammer portrays a man who has aged out of a
successful career and seeks a fresh start. He dives into the
fast-paced world of emergency medicine, working alongside first
responders half his age. The role marks Grammer's return to NBC
after spending over two decades on the network as Dr. Frasier
Crane.

The show is based on the true story of Ed Levien, a Maryland
resident who became a volunteer EMT in his 60s. Levien had
previously enjoyed a successful career in advertising before
making the switch. His younger colleagues gave him the nickname
"Pops," and he served for 12 years before retiring last fall at
76.

The project draws comparisons to ABC's The Rookie, which also
centered on a real person's midlife career change. It also
echoes the CBS sitcom Carol's Second Act, where Patricia Heaton
played a 50-something medical intern. Grammer notably guest
starred on that show alongside his Back to You co-lead Heaton.

Weiss, a former U.S. Marine, rose from staff writer to
co-executive producer across 10 seasons on Chicago Med. He also
wrote a freelance episode of House, M.D. and spent four seasons
as its in-house medical researcher. Jordan McMahon, Levien, and
3 Arts Entertainment also executive produce alongside Grammer
and Weiss.

Grammer will next appear in Avengers: Doomsday, reprising his
MCU role as Dr. Hank McCoy. NBC is separately developing a
multi-camera comedy starring his former Frasier co-star David
Hyde Pierce.
