LOL I had a small mutt dog (Sampson) when I lived in Memphis years ago.
Some sheriff's deputy knocked on my door and demanded to see my dog license. As you say, it's hard to hide a barking dog. So I took the
dog to get registered and had to pay a $25 fine for not having a
license. I also had to make sure he was vaccinated against rabies and other things just in case he bit someone... which was likely since Sammy
did not like anyone but me.
As it is, my cat is not registered. Nor does she go outside. She does, however, have a microchip in case she escapes and is found by someone else. She's also been vaccinated in case she bites someone, which is highly unlikely since she runs and hides the minute anyone comes to the door. ;)

The only shots required for a cat here is against rabies. I obliged.
Since Cleo never goes outside she does not need the FeLV vacciation. I

up catsitting there sometimes because they like to travel. That'd mean a free place to stay in Chicago too. We'd have to take Amtrak up there
because parking is outrageous.
