By ‘androgynous’ Aggy is probably complaining that the fish
lizard doesn’t have mammalian mammaries. So much for his
insistence that Doctor Who should always follow science!

That seems to describe a lot of the Gen Z 'snowflake generation'...
and homosexuality and bestiality with an androgynous fish lizard.
Nobody seems to mind about that sort of thing... well, they didn't the
last time we saw a human-reptile relationship anyway. <shrugs>
Who is this series being aimed at?
People who need to watch a show where the message of humans destroying
our world needs to be hammered home... and as it's produced by RTD,
hammered home it will be. Expect plenty of emotional drama too.

As it's a female playing the role, I assume the actress has
breasts... so it's probably the breastplate on the Sea Devil
costume making it appear that she has none. (Possibly because
reptiles aren't mammals and they are not supposed to have
breasts in the first place.)
The actress has been in "Doctor Who" before and she didn't
look like a man then!

If it wasn't a Doctor Who spin-off I can honestly say that
the trailer would not be enticing me to watch it.
I will watch it and hope for the best, but with RTD you kind
of know in advance that it's going to be full of good ideas,
badly developed, with some in-your-face messaging and moralising
thrown in for good measure.
I don't know what sort of people outside of Doctor Who fans
will watch this... but hopefully it can attract some neutrals
to make the project worthwhile.

I don't know what sort of people outside of Doctor Who fans

to make the project worthwhile.

Oh for the simpler times of 1972 when I could enjoy a Sea Devil

complicated things like life and all that serious stuff!

Yeah, putting it up against the final of "I'm a Celebrity..."
doesn't seem great scheduling... but as "The War Between the
Land and the Sea" is on the iPlayer too at least people can
watch both of them if they wanted to.

"Torchwood" was aimed at adults/teenagers and broadcast
at/after 9pm, which is considered the 'watershed' for UK
television... i.e. programmes unsuitable for kids have to be
shown after 9pm.

I don't see why that by itself should have stopped the Doctor

If Torchwood was on that early, it was possibly broadcast
with edits. (Like Doctor Who was during the classic era of
the show.)
Or maybe Australia has different rules for television programmes
that contain some adult content like swearing... or whatever.

It wasn't that bad actually.
I can't be too nitpicky as it was only the first two episodes,
but they were watchable. "The War Between the Land and the Sea"
won't win any BAFTA's for its writing, but for a Sunday evening
in front of the fire it was better TV fare than watching
non-celebrities eating Kangaroo testicles in the jungle for some
ego boosting publicity in the tabloids today... leading to more
appearances in other 'celebrity' reality shows!
Plus, the Sea Devils were better than they were in their last
outing in 2022.

"Torchwood" was aimed at adults/teenagers and broadcast
at/after 9pm, which is considered the 'watershed' for UK
television... i.e. programmes unsuitable for kids have to
be shown after 9pm.
Can't recall when Torchwood was broadcast here but I'm
guessing it was 7:30p.m. Sunday Evening.
If Torchwood was on that early, it was possibly broadcast
with edits. (Like Doctor Who was during the classic era of
the show.)
Or maybe Australia has different rules for television programmes
that contain some adult content like swearing... or whatever.

In New Zealand ...
M (Mature Audiences) content can only be played during the
day on weekdays when children are at school, and after
7.30pm. M content cannot be shown during the day on
weekends, or school or public holidays. We refer to 8.30pm
as the 'watershed', after which programmes rated 16 can be
screened.
It's similar in Australia ...
On Australian television, programmes are restricted to
certain times based on their rating. As of December 2015,
PG-rated programmes can be now shown at any time of day,
M-rated programmes can be shown from 19:30, and MA15+
programmes from 20:30. As well as this, M-rated programmes
can also be shown from 12:00 to 15:00 on school days. With
the exception of subscription narrowcast channels,
anything rated R18+ must not be shown on Australian
television at any time, and must be edited to fit within
MA15+ or AV15+ guidelines.

I think you're confusing the order of the ratings - in Australia,
rating "M" is lower than "M15+".
M = "not *recommended* for people under 15 years old",
but they can watch it under parental guidance.
MA15+ = "people under 15 *cannot* watch it" at all.
