There was once talk of a series focusing around Ian and
Barbara running their school (with lots of aliens popping
up, I'm sure). Nothing seems to have happened, though.

The movies with Peter Cushing and Paul McGann.
Plus the two behind-the-scenes shows "Doctor Who Confidential" and
"Totally Doctor Who".
Also "The Five(ish) Doctors" and charity spoofs ... sort-of. :-)
There was the show "Wizards vs Aliens", which rumouredly was originally >going to be a Doctor Who spin-off, but then changed to a separate show.

That became the pile of shit called Class, which focused on sexually grooming children to become homosexual.
Then after that failed, with almost no viewers whatsoever, there came
The Adventures of the Timeless Child which also had no one watching it
after it tried indoctrinating children to hate Britain, hate capitalism, hate being white, hate masculinity, and to become gay and transgender
and thus destroyed the entire franchise forever.

No, I am not having that. If the TVM was only a spin-off that would
mean the Seventh Doctor didn't die... so for the sanity of fandom the
TVM has to be proper 'Who' so that the "bang-bang you're dead" scene
counts.
I'll ignore the Peter Cushing bit as you are clearly trolling...
everyone knows that the Grand Moff counts as a mid-Hartnell Doctor.

Whether they are included as "canon" or not doesn't change the fact
that they are technically spin-offs - they are not episodes of the
actual TV series, hence spin-off. :-)

Technically the TVM was supposed to be a 90 minute pilot for a
planned [US produced] TV series, as opposed to being the stand
alone one-off movie that it has become. (We all know the story
of how that went down with Fox.) But yeah, the TVM is both a
spin-off and continuation of the original British TV series.
The fact the TVM did everyone a favour and ended the Seventh
Doctor's era means it keeps its place in my head canon! :-)
