Yep. The companies are already pointlessly making higher resolution TVs
- you can already buy 12K TVs and 16K prototypes are around.
Similarly with the ever-increasing resolution of digital cameras in
mobile phones. Most people do not need the resolution from five years
ago, let alone the massive resolutions of today's models.

I've been saying that for years. :-)
Even 4K is overkill for most people's needs, even ignoring the fact
that almost no networks film. let alone broadcast, in 4K.
It's a similar thing with physical screen size. A massive 100in TV is
simply idiotic for most people - you'd have to sit at the other end of
the house just to be able to watch shows on it properly.

I don't even have a 4K TV. Where's the 4K content let alone 8K
content?
What am I paying my BBC TV licence fee for?
Unless you can afford to pay the price of a house for a TV
that's at least 4 or 5 meters wide, and you have a house
that's big enough to fit it it in, and get it through the
door, and up or down the stairs, then an 8K TV is pointless at
normal viewing distances. Anything above 1080p for a 32 inch
is pointless unless you're using it as a computer monitor
close up. You need something close 65 inches for a 4K and
you'd need at least two people to hang it on the all or put it
on a stand.

If you're filming in 8K or even 4K you're supposed to fill the screen
with lots of content and detail by shooting from further away where you
can see people's bodies from top to bottom, and if you look to the side
of up and down you can see their surroundings, since the bigger more >detailed screen makes up for the distance.
These ignorant morons like Christopher Nolan instead use extreme
close-ups and cut off the top and bottom of peoples' heads and bodies
and shoot over people's shoulders, so you can see nothing around them.
Virtually every modern computer game has AI generated cinematography
that looks better than anything that degenerate Nolan has ever filmed, >because unlike Nolan's rubbish, it's actually made to fill 4K computer >monitors not 20 or 22 inch CRTs or tiny mobile phones.

The real reason is because it's pointless. In a normal living room,
people want be able to tell the difference between HD, 4K, or 8K,
unless they sit with their nose pressed against the screen.
Hey, you know how, back in the day, we were told NOT to sit too close
to the T.V.
Well, now-a-days, perhaps if we DID sit that close, we'd be able to
tell the difference!! ;-)
But then you'd only ever see a few dozen pixels, and not be able to see
the actual TV show. :-p
You need to sit at a distance so the TV can fill your whole field of

I don't even have a 4K TV. Where's the 4K content let alone 8K
content?
Most recently? Peaky Blinders, Ridley Road, and the last
few years of Doctor Who ... plus a lot of the BBC's nature
programmes.
Oh, and the forthcoming FIFA World Cup! So get down to Currys
now and get yourself equipped to follow the Three Lions in 4K.
As for 8K content, me and you will never see it.
What am I paying my BBC TV licence fee for?
I dunno. Why are you still paying it? You tell us!
Tell them you don't watch any television on your computer
monitor, you just use it to play games... act dumb and let
them prove otherwise.
I read something online yesterday that the BBC are looking
into bringing back the Radio levy, or even charging richer
people more for their TV Licence. - That will go down well!
Unless you can afford to pay the price of a house for a TV
that's at least 4 or 5 meters wide, and you have a house
that's big enough to fit it it in, and get it through the
door, and up or down the stairs, then an 8K TV is pointless at
normal viewing distances. Anything above 1080p for a 32 inch
is pointless unless you're using it as a computer monitor
close up. You need something close 65 inches for a 4K and
you'd need at least two people to hang it on the all or put it
on a stand.
Size doesn't matter... well, that's what people with small TV's
like to say anyway.

The latest bullshit gimmick is HDR. For true HDR you need a brightness
of 20,000 lumens per square meter and a 20 bit per sub-pixel dynamic
range so you can emulate true daylight. Nothing can handle that, not
even REC 2020 compliant displays.

None of which is on FreeView. I don't even think it's on FreeSat either.
If I have to watch it on a streaming service then the quality is going

It's needed for imbecilic directors like Christopher Nolan and almost
every other modern day director who doesn't have the remotest clue how
to direct, set up, or light a scene, so that the film is not burned out
and over exposed and washed out in some areas or all of them, or is too
dark and under exposed in others or everywhere. Director's like Fritz
Lang were able to light and direct scenes properly 100 years years ago
on interior quality film so why can't today's directors do it? If they
knew their craft they wouldn't need to film in HDR to cover their
mistakes or for modern TVs to have to precess every image so you can see
the hidden details the directors and editors failed to present to us >properly. Look at the mess they made of episode 3 of season 8 of Game of >Thrones.
