The Boys Season 5 New Teaser Previews Butcher & Homelander's 'War'

Prime Video has dropped a new teaser for The Boys Season 5, offering
a glimpse at the war brewing between Butcher and Homelander.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has also teased what to expect from both
characters in the final season.

The Boys reveals brand new footage from Season 5 ahead of release
Prime Video has released a new "One Week" mini-teaser for The Boys
season 5.

It features new footage ahead of the two-episode season premiere. The
teaser includes shots of Homelander awakening his genetic father,
Soldier Boy. He enlists Soldier Boy to help track down Billy Butcher.
One shot also shows Soldier Boy using his blast on Butcher's
tentacles.

In the final season, Homelander rules the world. His erratic,
egomaniacal whims dictate everything around him. Guards have
imprisoned Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie in a "Freedom Camp."
Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe
force. Butcher reappears ready to use a virus that will wipe all Supes
off the map.

Showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to SFX Magazine that Butcher will fully
embrace his villainous side in season 5. "The big turning point for
Butcher at the end of season 4 was that he committed to the fact that
he's a monster. He's given up any semblance of humanity," said Kripke.

Kripke added that Butcher has lost his visions of his dead wife Becca,
which previously kept him on track, and is now "committed to being a
true monster in order to achieve his goals." "The question for this
season is, as scary as Butcher is, and as driven and bloodthirsty as he
is, can Hughie and the others rekindle some spark of humanity in this
guy?" Kripke said.

Kripke also noted the parallel between Butcher and Homelander: "Butcher
and Homelander veer between this thing of, are they monsters, or are
they human? We just put them on different parts of that spectrum." The
fifth and final season of The Boys premieres on Prime Video on April 8,
2026.
