    His argument clearly extends to other countries as well.

    I would add that Net Zero doesn't really stop carbon production anyway:
    it merely exports it to other countries that aren't trying to reach Net
    Zero, like China. No one is inclined to do without all the wonderful
    things are technology can make so we merely arrange to have it made in
    places like China so that the generation of all that carbon merely moves
    to other places. This has the added consequence of making us more
    dependent on those countries, giving them undue power over us. It's
    already very difficult to get things that are NOT made in China.
