The chief in question is now facing dismissal for not doing his due >>>diligence
I got this from watching several British news Youtubes and they all
gave versions of the story saying the police chief ONLY consulted the
local Muslim clerics council. The main controversy seems not to be
whether the police chief should step down but rather whether he should
have the right to collect his pension. (which apparently he was less
than a year away from when this happened)
There have been several cases in both the UK and Canada (the main one
being in Quebec city where Muslims staged a mass "prayer" which
completely blocked access to the Quebec city cathedral and basically
besieged it. Having seen photos of the incident it's clear that it was
far more about besieging the cathedral than praying to Allah.
Apparently the Quebec National Assembly (what Americans would call the
State Assembly) has met a couple of times to pass legislation both
giving police greater powers to clear public squares particularly when
public buildings (can't remember the exact term but it includes
churches) are blocked in such a way that would impede public access
without going to court to get an injunction.
