What did you watch?
I've begun a rewatch of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. This isn't
a full canon rewatch; I plan to skip any episodes I remember as weak.
I'm still in the first season, when the show was aimed only at children,
and it shows. In particular, during s1e05 ("Griffon the Brush Off"),
adults often think that Gilda was in the right. I have mixed views. The
real problem is that Rainbow Dash didn't manage her two incompatible
friends well enough. That party, though -- there was no excuse for a
party to bully one person with endless unfunny pranks, and Gilda was
right to fly away.
"Boast Busters," s1e06, is also a subject of ongoing debate. Trixie
boasts, but only when she's in character. She was challenged with rope
tricks, weather control, and transformation, and she bested all
challengers and put some hecklers in their place. Not everyone enjoys
that kind of I-am-so-great persona, but plenty cheered for her. It's a
good show, and if Snips and Snails hadn't been silly enough to confuse
the show with real life, everything would have been fine.
