I skipped my usual oatmeal, and we made waffles and bacon for
breakfast.
I had one waffle (8" diameter round) with butter and maple syrup,
three slices of bacon, washed down with a glass of milk. The
hubs had two waffles and four slices of bacon. Nothing suceeds
like excess.
Thinking about a fattoush salad for later in the day. My mint
plant has become large enough to pick a few leaves.

Have not had a waffle for a long time. Sounds good. I won't buy the frozen ones but I do have a waffle iron but never wanted to mix up one waffle of batter. I'd have a cup of tea, not milk.
The mint would be better used in a Mint Julep.

I don't like liquor. I love salad.

You could make waffle batter, cook the waffles, and freeze them.
That would be better than Eggos, I'm sure.

I used to make waffles quite often when the kids were at home. When I
made extra I froze them. They thaw quickly in the toaster, they are much better than the supermarket stuff.

Could be worse. Some time back we were traveling and stopped for lunch
at a Waffle House. Well, the shape was correct.

When we make a batch we cook all the batter and the uneaten waffles are cooled, wrapped and kept in the fridge. Later on they can be popped in
the toaster to be heated up. They aren't as good as they were fresh but
it's quick and easy and IMO better than Eggos.

Pshaw. I had my first Mint Julep just a few weeks ago. It was darned good.

What is the correct shape for a waffle? The circa 1950's waffle iron I inherited makes two *square* waffles at a time.

I can do either. Our original 1960s Sunbeam makes a square that had the partitions to make four out of it. Grids are reversible for waffled or flipped for grilled sandwiches.
We also have a Belgian waffle maker that is round and also make a deeper waffle.

I grew up with square waffles. Some time ago they started flogging the round ones and calling them Belgium Waffle makers.

I have not had a waffle since I
was about 10 years old.

as they taste good, who cares? Oh, but I have not had a waffle since I
was about 10 years old. Nice looking waffle maker, but not really a fan
of waffles.
I have considered ditching the Belgium waffle maker and getting a
regular one but we seldom make waffles these days.
