World War II with Tom Hanks
If you have any interest in WWII, be sure to watch the episodes on
History Channel There are episodes Monday this week, 6/29 and next week.

Some scenes are tough to watch as the video is real and shows what was
really happening. It is a horrid section of humanity and lives lost.

Our parents and grandparents that were in the war were really tough people.

If the Americans hadn't intervened in World War II, all the Europeans
would now be goose stepping and supporting Donald Trump!

And the other side of the globe would be under the Japan empire. They
    were making good headway.

The US did a couple of things wrong in Pearl Harbor that made the attack
worse than it had to be. First was moving so many naval ships there,
mostly a show of force. The commander on the air base was concerned the resident Japanese would try to do harm to the planes sitting in hangars
so he had them all moved out side and spread out.

There's a million odd stories of Hawaii during WWII, this is just one of them:

I never understand why the Americans are still so traumatised by Pearl
Harbor, considering their own history of warfare.

It's a shame they didn't get involved earlier. It likely would have
prevented it from breaking into the mess that it did.

And the other side of the globe would be under the Japan empire.  They

There are different views on when WWII started. A lot of Americans view
it as the day that Pearl Harbor was attacked. The western Allies viewed
it as the German invasion of Poland and the British ultimatum. The
Japanese had been at it for several years in China and Mongolia. The
attack on Pearl Harbor was not just an attack on the US and its fleet.
It was just part of a coordinated series of attacks across the Pacific.
The moved on the Aleutians, French Indochina, Burma, the Philippines and others.

There are a number of conspiracy theorist who claim that the US
purposely left their fleet in the port to suck the Japanese into
attacking them as an excuse to get into the war. It is such a ridiculous
idea. I cannot imagine the US sacrificing its Pacific fleet in order to provide an excuse to enter the war when they needed that fleet in order
    to fight Japan.

It was mentioned that early on they did not feel the American soldier
    would fight for Europeans.

Shortly after Pearl Harbor Hitler declared war on the US. Up to that
time, it was easy to ignore what was happening far away.
