• Tuesday night supper when it is stinking hit

    From Dave Smith@adavid.smith@sympatico.ca to rec.food.cooking on Tue Jun 30 18:28:55 2026

We are in a heat wave. 90 F may not be hot for you but up here we start
to melt at about 80 degrees. We have some ground beef to make some
hamburgers and will cook them on the BBQ. I don't need much to go with
it other than a nice cold beer.

After supper I will rip the skin off a couple chicken legs and make a
Tandoori marinade. Tomorrow is Canada Day and we are going to my
brother's place to hang out by the pool.

90F/32C is hot but if dry, not so bad, if humid, could be very nasty.
Normal here this time of year is 90 to 95 every day, but I doubt there
is a house in FL that does not have AC at least in a room or two.

Earlier it texted my friend Joan and suggested she come the weekend, it
will be a chilly 90 here compared to the predicted 110 where she is in PA.

I'm comfy at home at 77F/25C all day, 75F for sleep. Thanks to Willis

My neighbor brought me a Wendy's hamburger which I have not consumed yet.
    Fries were eaten immediately, though.

Presently it's 94°F but we did top out at 98°F today.

Today was my first cup of fresh brewed coffee in a week; I could have
waited another full week on that drink.

If dry. Heh. Good one. It's a little hotter here than at Dave's.
We're expecting 97 today with an RH of 47%. Not Florida humid, but
enough to put the heat index at 108.

Evaluating 188 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their
experience overall. Many customers expressed significant
dissatisfaction with the product, stating it was merely an expensive
fan and not the portable air conditioning unit advertised. People felt
the marketing was misleading, promoting a cooling system that was
non-existent, leading to a poor perception of value for money.

Mini swamp cooler should be std. issue for the swampers.

Simple physics. You cannot make cold, you can only take away heat.
Sure, it may blow cooled air directly on you but the heat is still in
    the room.

The first rule of swamp coolers is to have either a power roof vent or
open upper windows to evacuate the hot air inside.

Displacement by advection, it's real basic stuff bud.

There's no mention of the cooling technology used except for some vague mumbo jumbo about some brilliant rebel that's trying to disrupt the industry. That's a
common sales pitch in this new world of advertising. My sister-in-law has a swamp
cooler. She lives in Northern California. When I was there, I thought that the whole place could explode into flames - it was so dry.Her swamp cooler was excellent at cooling her home. I'd get one too but that technology won't work in
    our 60%+ humidity.

People should also forget about 16 TB thumb drives for under 20 bucks. I blame the Chinese for that scam.

Thanks to the food producers, we don't have to kill anything - thank God! Yesterday, I had some ice cream that was made to resemble meat. And I say to myself, what a wonderful world. Oh yeah!

to make some hamburgers and will cook them on the BBQ. I don't
need much to go with it other than a nice cold beer.

After supper I will rip the skin off a couple chicken legs and
make a Tandoori marinade. Tomorrow is Canada Day and we are
going to my brother's place to hang out by the pool.

Well, for God's sake, don't get one of these - it's a total scam.

Evaluating 188 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their
experience overall. Many customers expressed significant
dissatisfaction with the product, stating it was merely an
expensive fan and not the portable air conditioning unit
advertised. People felt the marketing was misleading, promoting a
cooling system that was non-existent, leading to a poor
    perception of value for money.

Mini swamp cooler should be std. issue for the swampers.

Simple physics. You cannot make cold, you can only take away heat.
Sure, it may blow cooled air directly on you but the heat is still
    in the room.

    You truly are clueless.

The first rule of swamp coolers is to have either a power roof vent
or open upper windows to evacuate the hot air inside.

Displacement by advection, it's real basic stuff bud.

Did I mention swamp coolers? I'm talking about the unit advertised.
    Try to follow along.

Which just happens to be (wait for it) ....a...swamp cooler!

    A small one,but.

Does not meed the definition of a swamp cooler. They use water, this
    does not.

So where does the heat go? The ad shows magic cold air, says nothing
about roof vents or open window, just cold air coming out.

Yer right, it is even worse than the mini swampers out there, just a
    squirrel cage fan with batteries!
